Placement and General Equivalency Diploma (GED) testing
Prior to registering for courses, all students admitted to GCC must take
computerized placement tests in Reading Comprehension, English and Mathematics.
This assessment
is designed to help new college students achieve their educational goals by determining
the most appropriate academic placement in these critical skill areas. For more
information about placement testing, please visit the Testing Center website.
The General Equivalency Diploma (GED) provides people who have not graduated
from high school with the opportunity to earn a High School Equivalency Diploma.
Massachusetts residents who are at least 16 years of age and not currently enrolled
in high school may take the GED tests, which are offered in Greenfield and Orange
on a regular basis. Free GED preparation classes are available at local adult
education centers. For more information
about the GED testing
program, please call (413) 775-1147.
