Veteran's benefits

If you are a veteran of the United States armed services, or if you are a dependent of a deceased or 100% permanently disabled veteran, you may be eligible for Federal veterans educational assistance benefits.  Eligibility is based on individual circumstances and must be determined by the Department of Veterans Affairs.  For applications or questions please visit the VA's website, or call 888-442-4551.  The VA Certifying Official in the Financial Aid Office at GCC can provide general information and assistance in completing the necessary forms and advise students how to contact the appropriate agencies.

Categorical tuition waiver for veterans and active duty members

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts offers a tuition waiver to all veterans and active duty servicepersons who are permanent and legal residents of Massachusetts. This waiver can be used at any Massachusetts state or community college or University campus.  To apply for the waiver, the student must present documentation of categorical waiver eligibility to GCC’s Veterans Certifying Official in the Financial Aid Office, along with a tuition waiver form.  Each classification carries specific dates of service, and those seeking to use this waiver should check the Office of Student Financial Assistance website for specifics and review the following chart at this link: http://www.mass.gov/Eveterans/docs/wartime_chart.pdf.  Please note that this is a tuition waiver program only; fees are the responsibility of the student.

Education benefits may also be available to members of the Massachusetts Army National Guard
