You are often told how important your success at GCC is to the faculty and staff here. That is not simply lip service. We do truly care about creating an environment where maximum teaching and learning can occur.

Much of your learning happens in the classroom and is delivered by our extremely competent and compassionate faculty. However, there is much learning that can and should occur outside the classroom. By taking advantage of opportunities and programs offered outside the classroom, your academic success will be enhanced.

The Fitness, Wellness and Health Activities Program is facilitated by staff from the Health and Wellness Cluster within Student Affairs that includes:

We are partnering with various faculty and academic affairs staff to bring you programs designed to enhance classroom learning and promote your personal health and wellness.

Each month we will publish a newsletter that highlights programs and events that are happening during the month. We will also provide important health and wellness information and tips. Staff from the health and wellness cluster will be contributing writers to this newsletter.

During the spring of 2008 many of you filled out a survey that asked for your input regarding what types of programming you would like to see on campus. You will see that feedback manifest this semester that programs that we offer. Your feedback is VERY important to us. If, at any time you have an idea for a program you are most welcome to contact me at raperj@gcc.mass.edu or extension 1819. We also recognize there is a lot of knowledge and talent among our student body. If there is a particular area related to health and wellness that you would like to provide a program around, please be in touch!

We look forward to working with you to enhance your health, wellness and fitness and academic experiences! Sincerely, Judy Raper
